Girls Encoded is a program to develop the pipeline of women in computer science as well as to retain the women who have entered into the program. Run through the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department at the University of Michigan within the College of Engineering, the program has two focus areas: recruitment of women into the CSE department, and retention of women to graduation from the department. All events are open to all students, regardless of gender.
We strive towards these goals both by hosting our own events and by supporting other initiatives within the department. Here are some recent things that we've been involved in:
Women in Computing Lecture Series highlighting exceptional female researchers and faculty members
High school workshops to encourage high school students to study computer science
Sponsorship for student-led initiatives to recruit and retain students in technical fields
Please see our Events page for more information.
If your company would like to help us reach our goals, please see our Get Involved page.
